Am I a Direct Customer, ISV, or TP?

Am I a Direct Customer, ISV, or TP?

Definition of a direct brand owner

Your company sends messages promoting your products and services.

For instance, consider a company called TechGadgets. TechGadgets might allow users to subscribe to marketing messages about their latest gadgets, send order updates to customers who purchased through the TechGadgets website, and similar communications.

If this scenario fits your business, you will follow our onboarding process for direct brands.

A direct brand customer may also own multiple brands. For example, TechGadgets might also have a subsidiary brand called SmartWatches. This still qualifies as a direct brand use case since both brands are operated by the same company—SmartWatches is a brand owned by TechGadgets, not a client.

Definition of an ISV (Independent Software Vendor) and Tech Provider(TP)

As an Independent Software Vendor (ISV) or Tech Provider, your company offers messaging services to other businesses, each represented by their brands.

For instance, consider an ISV/TP company named RetailSolutions Inc. that provides a technology platform for retail stores. A store called FashionBoutique utilizes this service. The store’s brand name (FashionBoutique) appears in the messages, and a customer receiving those messages would perceive the communication as being directly between them and the store. The customer is likely unaware that RetailSolutions is facilitating this interaction.

If this scenario fits, you will follow Gupshup Partner Onboarding via Meta's Tech Provider Program.

Still not sure if you’re a direct customer or ISV?

Depending on the nature of your business, it might still seem unclear which of these classifications apply to you.

If you are still unsure, there is one key question to consider.

What do your end users (message recipients) perceive when receiving messages? Do they engage with your brand or your client’s brand?

If your end users are cognizant of your company and view their interaction as occurring with your business directly, you likely operate as a direct customer.

Conversely, if your end users are oblivious to your business and believe they are directly interacting with your client, you function as an Independent Software Vendor (ISV) or as a Tech Provider (TP).
