Before you begin
Prior to establishing a chatbot, confirm that you have:
- A professional Instagram account (either a Creator or Business account).
- A Facebook page is attached to that Instagram account. When communicating with users, make sure your Facebook Page accurately displays the identity of your Instagram Professional account. Visit https://www.facebook.com/pages/create to start a new Page. You may also start with a test Page.
- Access to Messages is enabled in the Instagram account.
Settings → Privacy → Messages → Enable Allow Access to Messages
Set up a business account on Instagram
To access tools that might help you expand your business on Instagram, you can change your personal profile into a business account.
You may only have five Instagram accounts at a time.
Converting your profile to a Professional (Business) account
- Go to your profile and tap Hamburger Menu in the top right-hand corner.
- Tap Settings.
For some accounts, the Switch to professional account option will be listed directly under Settings - Tap Account.
- Tap Switch to professional account.
- Tap Continue.
- Select a category for your business and tap Done.
- Tap OK to confirm.
- Tap Business.
- Tap Next.
- Add contact details and tap Next. Or tap Don't use my contact info to skip this step.
- You can follow the instructions to link your business account to a Facebook Page related to your company if you'd like. It will be simpler to use all of the capabilities offered for companies throughout the Facebook family of applications if you take this optional step. Your company account may currently only be linked to one Facebook Page.
- Tap X in the top-right corner to return to your profile.
You may obtain insights that might help you learn more about who is connecting with your business on Instagram if you have a business account. Additionally, you will get access to the professional dashboard, where you can monitor your progress, access and learn about professional tools, and browse instructional content selected by Instagram.
Your company category and contact information can also be shown or hidden on your profile. Go to your profile and choose Edit profile after configuring. You may opt to hide or display your category label and contact information by going to Profile display under Public business information. Then choose Done.
